2009 wasn’t my greatest year for seeing movies.. There are a handful of movies that came out in 2009 I have yet to see, movies that I’m SURE would have made it on this list had I gotten the opportunity to catch them. Movies like Zombieland, District 9, Avatar, The Fantastic Mr Fox (because SOMEONE *cough*Alex*cough* saw it without me), 9, Coraline, The Brothers Bloom, Moon, The Bright Star or The Road. Those movies aside, here is my list of favorite films from 2009.

10. Fanboys - I remember seeing a trailer for this when I bought Pulse on dvd (yes, I bought Pulse on dvd) and freaked.. It’s about time fanboys (and fangirls) got to share their story with the world.. even if it did take 3 years to do so.

9. Paranormal Activity - This movie had me sleeping with the lights on for a few weeks.

8. I Love You, Man - I have a thing for Bromances… and Rush.

7. Inglorious Bastards – Quentin Tarantino films are like the punk kid you went to high school with.. They’re loud, in your face, do whatever they want and leave you wondering “Wait.. did he REALLY just do that?!”.. I had a thing for the punks in high school.

6. Where the Wild Things Are - In this film, Spike Jonez was able to capture the fascination and thrill of my favorite childhood book.

5. The Hangover – One of the most brilliantly hilarious films I’ve ever seen. Not at the table Carlos.

4. The Boat that Rocked (Pirate Radi0) - Philip Seymour Hoffman fucking deserves an Oscar for his role in this movie.

3. Sherlock Holmes – I honestly can’t think of anything they could have done to make this movie better than it was… I walked out of the theater wanting to see it again and again (and I did).

2. Star Trek - What can I say, JJ Abrams makes things pretty and shiny, and that makes me happy.

1. Watchmen - Not only was this movie gorgeous and perfectly cast, but I’ve never been more satisfied by a comic book movie in my entire life. Zack Snyder had me at the opening credits.
From Brittanie:
Hell yeah to most of these. I still need to see WWTA and Boat That Rocked…
From Sithcakes:
The Boat that Rocked was probably my biggest surprise out of all of these! I had been wanting to see it because I knew it might be fun, but it totally just blew me away – WAY better than I was expecting!
